Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired -- Jules Renard
Hello Everybody,
After making my writing assignment for tomorrow in a panic induced frenzy I realised I hadn't written my blog yet for this week. Quite a few things have happened in my first full week back home but none of too much importance. Classes have started as usual and as you can read I am pretty much already behind. I am not entirely to blame for this for I went into this semester with a fresh new face and then life happened.
First of all the books I ordered did not arrive on time. So no books for Natasja and all her classmates. Which means we are all behind on our reading. For semantics this is not a problem since the whole book is available online, joke's on me for buying it in the first place. However for some of my classmates this is more problematic since, unlike me. they do have literature courses which pretty much means reading a book a week. Without books this is hard to do. Thank God for the university library, if they have enough of them.
Secondly I had to move my last stuff over here which also was a days task, including a visit to my Grandparents. It is still all unpacked stacked in boxes in my living room. I'll get to it soon... Eventually.
Thirdly I am just taking my time getting used to the rhythm of Dutch life again but if you get thrown into the deep end right away this takes a bit longer.
Then I went to the master information day and my whole future got turned upside down. So many decisions to make and so many things to think about. Do i want to do the literary master? the translation master? both? Will I do the educational minor next year? What will I write my bachelor dissertation on? Give me patience, give me strength.
I kind of have it figured out but I need to talk to some people about it before I can make final decisions about this. So I am emailing my butt off.
Also I have to hand in my learning agreement to finalize my exchange so the credits I worked so hard for in Liverpool will actually count for something. But ofcourse universities will be universities and emailing is the best yet sometimes the slowest way of getting shit done.
Right now I am in bed barely able to sit up straight and keep my eyes open after watching Planet Earth with a cup of tea. Enjoying Sir David Attenborough's calming voice calming me down after my writing assignment.
I only found out at 8 PM that I had to hand my assignment in online before 10 AM tomorrow morning. Every tuesday from now on. You all know how much writing is not my thing so I was in a frenzy trying to come up with some decent stuff. Eventually I sort of gave up and handed in what I had, no clue if it is enough but it'll have to do. So so tired.
The weekend was nice visited my other grandparents as well for my Nan's birthday and had a lazy sunday at my boyfriend's house.
Next weekend will be busy busy because of Carnaval and all of my brother's friends are sleeping over, It is a whole weekend of fun with good people, good food, and good drinks. I just have to make it through the week and make most of my homework for the next so I don't have to worry about any of that. Wish me luck.
It is nice to be home in a comfortable environment. It really feels like I haven't left at all. Everything is back to the old except for the fact that I have new people to miss now. My appartment felt like home almost instantly and as soon as my knickknacks are back in order it'll be complete.
Now I think I am going to sleep because everything is becoming a bit of a blur.
Sleep well and have a nice Tuesday!
Bye
