Family is not an important thing. It is everything. -- Michael J. Fox
Hello Everybody,
It is Monday night and I still haven't fully recovered from my birthday, and not even for the reason you guys might immediately jump to, I do not have a hangover.
I was sitting in the kitchen friday night drinking some tea because is was sort of nervous for my parents and boyfriend to arrive, just about to go out to pick them up when I receive a whatsapp message from my dad saying: you might wanna make reservations for a couple more people including a picture. When the picture was fully downloaded my jaw dropped. In the picture were my boyfriend and parents, as I expected, but also: My brother, his girlfriend and my grandparents! I had to call my dad because I could not believe it! but it was true, they all came out of the arrival hall's doors some 2 hours later. I was sooooooo happy, I was already happy that my parenst and Coen were coming but now almost my whole family was here. We went to their hotel to have a drink to recover from the shock. I could not stop smiling for the next two and a half days, I mean they even had presents eventhough them being here was already such a big gift. The next morning we met at Albert Dock and shopped a little bit after which my dad and brother went to the match between Liverpool FC and Stoke City and the rest of us went on the city sightseeing bus tour so everyone could see some parts of Liverpool. My brother's girlfriend, my boyfriend and I went to the top of the Anglican Cathedral and the view was spectaculor. Just stunning. Also, very cold.
At night we went out to dinner and after I showed them my accommodation where my roommates had made me apple pie and had presents. These crazy girls, I love them.
Then Sunday we slept in a bit and had lunch at Liverpool One which was amazing, and sadly after that I had to say goodbye again for now. Thankfully it is only 3 weeks until I visit them with Christmas!
It was so nice to see them and be able to show them how I live here, and meet some of the people I get to share this amazin experience with. I am so thankful that my dad arranged this whole situation, and that my family was sneaky enough to keep it from me. Eventhough I now know how well they are at lying to my face, I love them so much for doing it. It was a flash visit but it definitely left a great impact, I am now able to power through to the end of my semester here, having them always there to offer support where needed.
It was amazing waking up next to my boyfriend, eventhough it was only twice this weekend, it just gave me that little bit of extra happiness. I just love him to pieces.
Maybe I miss my family a little bit more now but it was so worth it. They also made me miss my lovely girl friends a lot more, when my mom presented me with a gift and a card with a really sweet message and signed with their names. I definitely had to wipe away a few tears this weekend. I am so so happy to have all these amazing people around me and I want to thank you all so much for supporting me on this adventure. I don't know what I would do without all of you!
Be with those who bring out the best of you, not the stress in you!
Have a good week!
